With the colder days of Winter comes the longing for a darker lipstick. Especially in rich colours like plum, red and burgundy. And today I will be reviewing the latest lipstick I've added to my ever growing collection.
Wet n Wild's Sugar Plum Fairy lipstick from WnW's mega last lip color line. Sugar Plum Fairy is a purple berry shade which becomes more vibrant with the more coats you apply on your lips. I have read on many blogs that Sugar Plum Fairy is an exact dupe for MAC's Rebel lipstick, which is the most talked about lipstick on my instagram feed right now. The reason I didn't head straight to MAC for a fix was because I wasn't sure how I felt about a purple lipstick, I wasn't sure if it would suit me and I wasn't willing to spend R200 to find out if it actually worked for me. Enter, Wet n Wild Beauty, which a few months ago, made its way to South African shores and while most were raving about their great eyeshadows (which I can't comment on, I haven't bought any) I was more interested in the lipsticks.

Taken from WnW's website: 'This 4-hour, longwearing lip color leaves a semi-matte, crème finish in one stroke. Glides on easily with rich, velvety color that doesn't cake, feather, or bleed. Made with hydrating skin-care ingredients: Hyaluronic Microspheres provide extraordinary adhesion to lips, an exclusive polymer complex offers cushion-like feel and texture, and natural marine plant extracts Coenzyme Q10 and Vitamins A & E help smooth lips.'

What I adore about Sugar Plum Fairy, is that its actually a universal flattering shade which could suit those with fairer to dark skin tones. The colour is rich and pigmented and actually does last a long time, and fades into a lovely stain at the end of the day. The colour is vampy but not too over the top and works for both day & night time.
The only con I have with the lipstick, is the packaging. It's cheap and the lid is prone to pop off but its not a major downfall for me.

  3. Love that shade on you! I've been weary about the quality of the Wet n Wild lippies after a not so good experience with their eyeliners but you have changed my mind! I'm going to give it a try!
