Some of you, maybe one of you, would have noticed that I've been dead silent on all forms of social media. The occasional tweet here and there but I didn't blog, facebook (not that I use it, I hate facebook), or instagram for 2 weeks.
T W O weeks! OMG!
Not one photo... But I was still "on" instagram, if you know what I mean. I still checked it, because fomo, but I didn't like or comment on anything.
I was basically a stalker.

My phone decided to give in after updating to to the latest ios and I went about 2 weeks without it.
During those 2 weeks I realised how attached I am to that damn thing. I am constantly checking social media, it's glued to my hand and I was missing so many important moments because of that. I wasn't present that's for sure.

I've decided to be less dependent of it, and live in the now. Detach from it.
I'm not going to stop a fun moment with my family to share it on my instagram account because everyone must know exactly what I'm doing at this very instant.

I love this article called Less Phone, More Life, especially this:
" It’s time to take a step back and examine what you are doing and more importantly, what you are missing out on. Life does not pause when you are flipping through your text messages or updating your status- it keeps on going. Things around you keep on going. Experiences pass you by. These are minutes that you will never be able to get back. "

  2. I understand where you are coming from 100%, and it's something I've been thinking about a lot lately, too. I've actively been trying to 'switch off' more over the past few weeks - things like turning our bedroom into a 'no phone zone', and PUTTING MY PHONE DOWN when I'm supposed to be spending quality time with Noah. I'm also thinking about switching off my phone and turning off my laptop after 6pm everyday. Cell phones have gone from being a convenience to a complete disruption. Beautiful post, and BEAUTIFUL outfit, as always xxx

  3. That's a really good idea, Lucky! I actually noticed you were gone - you got me a lil worried there!
Husb says I spend too much time on social media too, I think it's high time I switched off too.
    Thanks for the inspiration :)

  4. Glad that you are back :)

I am way to addicted to my phone and the internet/devices in general. I all too often find myself blogging on my laptop while checking apps on my ipad while messaging on my phone while watching series and occasionally holding an actual real life conversation at the same time. It is exhausting and one only realises that when you take a step back and away from everything.

I think we should all have bi-annual internet detox holidays. A week away from all connections to restore and reconnect in person.
